Opening its doors in early 2026, the pioneering Health Business Innovation Centre (HBIC) is strategically located on the University of Huddersfield’s National Health Innovation Campus (NIC), supporting emerging health, life sciences and wellbeing organisations turn ideas into real-world health solutions.

The National Health Innovation Campus is a major initiative by the University of Huddersfield to improve health and wellbeing through education, research and collaboration. It brings together healthcare professionals, researchers and industry to tackle key health challenges and drive innovation in care, technology and service delivery.

Who is the Health Business Innovation Centre for?
The Health Business Innovation Centre is designed for early-stage and scaling businesses working in health, wellbeing, MedTech, digital health and life sciences that are developing products and services to improve health and wellbeing.
We also welcome spinouts and organisations interested in working with academia or the NHS.

Yes. One of the benefits of being based at the Health Business Innovation Centre is the access to university expertise, its National Health Innovation Campus and wider networks, including potential partnerships with NHS organisations and regional innovation programmes.
What is the National Health Innovation Campus?
The National Health Innovation Campus aims to transform health and wellbeing in the region and beyond by combining world-class education, pioneering research and strong partnerships with the NHS and industry.
It addresses major public health challenges, supports the training of healthcare professionals and provides a collaborative space for innovation in health technologies and services. It’s also the first of its kind in the UK to be built to platinum WELL Building Standards, promoting wellbeing for all who use it.
What are the benefits of joining the Huddersfield Health Innovation Incubator (HHII)?

Who is eligible for the Huddersfield Health Innovation Incubator (HHII)?
All organisations that can support health and wellbeing innovation can join as a member, but the tailored business support elements are subject to meeting criteria and availability.
